U.S. Navy Gunboats that fought at The Battle of Nashville
Yes, there was a naval battle at Nashville in the Civil War. Seven warships fought hard to push past the Army of Tennessee at Kelley’s Point from December 2 to the 15th in 1984. This was a run-up to the battle of Nashville and resulted in two Medal of Honor recipients by the sailors in blue. Four of the seven gunboats have surviving photos below.
