Virtual Battlefields

sphereVirtual 360º Tours

Virtual 360 Battlefields and historical sites of the American Civil War, Revolutionary War and Indian Wars shot 360° x 180º by a Certified Google Street View photographer. I also shoot 360º Virtual Reality tour-points for Google Maps. For WordPress website browsers, I create augmented virtual reality spheres. These include embedded signage from the battlefield parks, or in some cases, the tour-points are shot so close to the signage, that you can zoom in and read them.

In early 2016, I began shooting Civil War battlefields around Nashville in 360º. By March, I had over 500,000 views on Google Maps. As of November 2019, I have thousands photospheres with over 45 million views.

I am now using a professional spherical photography system, so 3D like images shot after 2016 have better resolution, color, lumocity. I am replacing the iPhone pictures over time, and will also shoot more winter perspectives for longer range views.

All 360º virtual tours are shot, processed and published by Bob Henderson of Athens-South Visual Design.

Bio: Former Metro Historical Commission member. Served as an officer in the U.S. Navy and Tennessee Air National Guard. I am a direct descendent of Captain Walter Scott Bearden, 41st Tennessee CSA and Private James Jarvis Maxwell, 4th Tennessee Cavalry U.S. | John D. Kerr, McKenzie’s 5th Cavalry, CSA | Uncle (G2) Lt. David Phillips 7th Tennessee CSA, Uncle (G2) John Bond Henderson, 4th Tennessee Cavalry CSA, and Great (G2) Cousin Major Shelah Waters 5th Tennessee Cavalry U.S.  Uncle (G2) 2nd Lt. George Malone, 19th TN CSA (KIA Kennesaw Mountain)

Like most families in Middle Tennessee, mine was divided including two brothers that went to opposite sides (Maxwells).

View the virtual tours below by geographical location. You can also experience these panoramas on your smart phone with the Google Cardboard viewer ($15USD), or other V/R headsets. The Google Street View Application for the phone is free at Google Play or the App Store.

Some National Military Parks have been shot in 360º driving tours. Vicksburg, Fredericksburg, Perryville, Antietam and Gettysburg are at least five of these.
